Pasta didn’t write her text yet so it seems like I(Aby) will have to help her now and write a text for her, so it’s not all that empty.

Pasta is an incredibly creative person who’s super fast at picking up new techniques. She’s incredibly passionate about cosplay and about her favorite characters – she’s also very involved in fandom culture but would never tell you 😉 Yet she knows all of the fanarts! As a very independant person, Pasta has her own business as a photographer. And most of the pictures you will find on this page are only possible due to her talented eye for the right scene(ary), lighting and editing.

What I like about cosplay

Just like me, Pasta likes to be her favorite character of course! And she also loves to have a project. You should see how frustrated and restless she is if there is no project she can work on! When she can work on a costume, a prop, a skit – anything though, she is really “right within her element” as you would put it in German.

Favorite cosplay activity

I think Pasta loves everything technical in cosplays. 3D printing and soldering and – well mostly getting things done! While I waste ages making plans and bullet point lists, she will just take the materials and get down to business. Also learning new stuff might be her thing just as well, given with all the things she taught herself.

“So many hobbies, so little time…”

Hi, I’m Aby! In real life I’ve been working in marketing, social media and advertising before going back to university to pursue my master’s degree in psychology. I’ve been cosplaying since 2004 and am still as enthusiastic about being my fictional favourite as 14 years ago.

What I like about cosplay

Cosplay allows me to discover new worlds through the eyes of my favourite characters. On top of that, I get to learn such a huge variety of crafting techniques to make the costume in question happen and the character come to life, plus, to develop skits and perform them on stage.  I think there is no other hobby which lets you immerse yourself in a world of fiction and at the same time takes a part of that fictuous world and makes it come to life. The crafting, the make-up, the performance on stage and last but not least the photography and presentation of it online has offered me such a variety of ways to express myself – and it doesn’t even stop there. The cosplaying scene offered me a space in which I could write and publish articles and tutorials, hold workshops and even develop my English skills by interacting with cosplayers all around the world. Also, it’s simply super cool to stick a beard to your face and pretend you were a middle-aged cult leader on weekends.

Meet the two feisty felines who occupy our flat

Luke

Luke is a Russian Blue who came to live with us in late 2013. He is one thicc boi who likes to cuddle and lie on the heater. Another hobby of his is to watch the birds in the garden and to hunt after the red dot of doom (laser pointer, but don’t tell him). Ever since we won an overlock machine in the ECG prelims, he sleeps in the box it came in. Sometimes he starts to meow in the middle of the night. We don’t know why and neither does he.

Lady

Lady is a European shorthair whom we adopted in early 2013. She is a year older than Luke and very smol. Due to our endless love for her and our inability to say no, she recently turned into one hefty chonker. Just like Luke, she likes to cuddle a lot and can be found in Aby’s lap or on Pasta’s pillow at any given chance. She likes to hunt after feathers. When she wakes up and doesn’t see us immediately, she calls for us with her typical “brrrruuuu” noise, until she is merrily reunited with us.
